Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #135!

Happy end of the school year!

After about a month off to deal with the end-of-year chaos, which seemed a bit more heightened this year, I’m back on top of my inbox and duties, so here’s this week’s newsletter…

We are in school until next Wednesday, and then about 7 weeks off. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be minimizing work during that period (not the newsletter), and I’m excited that I’ll be doing a fly-in the week after next to St. George’s in Grenada! And then I’ll be attending International ACAC in Pittsburgh after all. I’ll be presenting with some colleagues on “Tech It Easy: simple solutions for advisors who are not tech-savvy” during one of the sessions. Looking forward to it!

Also, of important note: International ACAC is overlapping with Picklesburgh!

Where to Invest $100,000 Right Now, According to Experts

Investors face a dilemma. When the S&P 500 finished its worst quarter since 2022 last month, diversifiers like bonds and bitcoin fell too.

Even with the turnaround in mid-April, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Vanguard have projected low-single-digit annualized returns from 2024-2034.

Bloomberg asked where experts would personally invest $100,000 for their March monthly edition.

One answer that surfaced for a second time? Art.

It's what billionaires like Bezos and the Rockefellers have privately used to diversify for decades.

Why?

  1. Appreciation. The ArtPrice100 Index outpaced the S&P 500 overall from 2000 to 2025

  2. Low-correlation. The postwar contemporary segment has moved independently of traditional investments like stocks since ‘95.*

  3. Resilience. A scarce, physical, and global asset class with decades of demonstrated demand.

Thanks to the world's premier art investing platform, now anyone can invest in works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, without needing millions.

Shares in new offerings can sell quickly but...

I liked this one…

Act as a master explainer for beginners. Create a presentation on [topic] that breaks concepts into simple steps, plain language, and relatable analogies so a 10-year-old could understand. Include visuals to illustrate each step and short speaker notes.

That’s it for this week, but first, this is something that came to me from our IB Coordinator recently that I find very interesting:

If you’re at one of the pilot schools, I’d love to chat briefly!
