Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to newsletter #15!

It has been an eventful week as I returned from India and jumped back into the throes of the work of the semester. Read more here on LinkedIn! I’m also happy to report that this newsletter eclipsed 200 subscribers in August! Thanks so much for the support!

While some of the news reports a fading interest in artificial intelligence, this week presented a new problem for me and this newsletter: there is too much to share! As such, I’m choosing to bump much to next week’s newsletter to keep this week’s relatively succinct! Still, please keep sharing items you encounter with me! Thanks to those who have been doing so!

To get things started, below is an AI-created image by Ideogram, meant to reflect my recent travels… In any case, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!

Enjoy this week’s newsletter!

For this week, I am sharing just a simple prompt using ChatGPT 4.0 with the Visla plug-in enabled:

Equip yourself with the knowledge and insights to navigate the next wave of admissions innovation.

This is a session I am participating in later this month at the regional CIS forum in Bogota, Columbia. Amazingly, check out this link to see the video that was created in just a couple minutes! Seems like this tool possesses infinite applications…

As always, if you’d like to explore some of the other prompts I’ve shared here and elsewhere, check out this link. If you have any great prompts or questions about prompting, send me a note at [email protected].

Thanks for reading. Lots more to share next week that didn’t make it into this week’s newsletter! Please, as always, share this newsletter with others who might benefit from it, and, please, share with me any feedback, ideas, etc.

And, finally, please see this really interesting TedTalk on the weirdness of AI, a video that explains some of the challenges of the software and many of the human misperceptions of it! Enjoy!

Happy counseling,

Jeff
