Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling
Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #43!
I did not expect my April Fool’s joke last week to have been successful as it was. I’m not entirely sure what that means of all of your perspectives of me! That said, it was indeed a prank, and I am, sadly, not headed to the Culinary Institute of America… at least not yet!
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on this week from LinkedIn. Also, I’ll be leading a free UCLAxOpen webinar on AI in College Admissions tomorrow, Tuesday, April 9 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. (There’s a second part on May 7 at 5:00 PM PT as well!) I hope you can join if you’re available!
For now, please enjoy this week’s newsletter!
Perhaps to drive up some attendance for tomorrow’s UCLAxOpen webinar, here is a recording of last quarter’s. Tomorrow’s event promises to cover new use cases and tools!
If you cannot attend tomorrow’s event, I hope to record and share it out.
Some previous prompts are shared at this link and on my YouTube channel. However, if you have any great prompts or questions about prompting, send me a note at [email protected].
The College Guidance Network (CGN) hosted a webinar recently which featured AVA, which claims to be the “the first and only AI counseling assistant for students and families.” While regular readers of this newsletter would know that this claim is perhaps misleading (as there are several out there and several others that have been using AI for quite some time), there does seem to be some value in having practicing college counselors aware of the ways in which AI impacting the work that we do. As such, AVA and CGN are looking to grow their community of practice as they develop their software to support students and families. You can learn more here and join the community of practice.
And happy counseling,
Jeff
