Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #46!

After Dengue, I was able to make it to London for the BMI-THE Global Schools Workshop & Forum. Read more here! I’ll dive right in this week…

A couple reminders, to get started: the second part of my two-part webinar series for UCLAxOpen, which is free, on AI in College Admissions on May 7 at 5:00 PM PT. Then there is a College Guidance Network (CGN) event midday on May 7 as well that I’ll be participating in. Then, farther on down the line, on Tuesday, July 30, also at 5:00 PM PT, I’ll be leading another webinar, this one with the legendary Jon Boekenstedt from Oregon State University on the current state of US college admissions. We will explore all sorts of different topics in what is bound to be a fun conversation.

At the suggestion of some regular readers, I have added a new section called “Bullet Board” to the newsletter, which will highlight various tech-related events. See below for links!

For now, please enjoy this week’s newsletter!

I’ve shared this before, but it has come up a few times from newer subscribers. This is the prompt I put into ChatGPT to kick out my week-in-review posts on LinkedIn (like this one). Ultimately, this is an idea from a colleague that I’ve borrowed to make the work of college counselors more transparent. It is a regular lament by counselors that others do not know or understand all that goes into our work, so this is one tactic to begin to combat that! Give it a try! I’d love to see more of you join in.

Please write a detailed week in review post for LinkedIn based upon the notes shared below. Keep all the details and names from the following weekly recap but add emojis and relevant hashtags, keeping the bulleted format.

Some previous prompts are shared at this link and on my YouTube channel. However, if you have any great prompts or questions about prompting, send me a note at [email protected].

That’s all for now! Happy to be back home with my family after a busy week away. Enjoy the week!

And happy counseling,

Jeff
