Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling
Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #72!
Happy November! For some of us, this means more than others. For me, I have sent off applications for 32 of my 38 senior counselees. Phew. What a month.
In any case, I am off on a two-week work trip now, first to Nairobi for a BMI-THE event, then to a College Board event in Abu Dhabi, and then to Amsterdam to visit universities, and finally to Basel, Switzerland for the CIS Global Forum. I hope to see many of you at these various events!
In any case, enjoy this week’s newsletter!
Here’s a new prompt that I’ve been working on in preparation for some upcoming work with juniors and sophomores. The full prompt can be found here. I’ve lately been thinking a lot about the ways in which AI can be used to provide more critical feedback directly to students, enabling deeper work between the counselor and the student without having to navigate, perhaps, some discomfort by the student. Give it a try.
If you have any great prompts or ideas, please share! Send me a note at [email protected].
For my non-tech article this week, I wanted to share the following piece that focuses on how educators can enhance the teaching of critical thinking skills, in light of what seems to me to be another wave of negativity aimed at AI.
Enjoy the rest of the week, and happy counseling,
Jeff
