Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #77!

[Apologies! Thanks to an email from a subscriber this morning, I realized I had accidentally scheduled this newsletter to go out NEXT Monday, so it didn’t go out yesterday. As such, I’m sending now! Thanks for the head’s up!]

We are kicking off our final week of the semester this week, ending classes on the 13th. For the first time in 24 years, it seems I will not be in school when the majority of Early Decision results come out. Makes me feel a bit unsettled. Still, here’s hoping you all weather the storm of coming results!

In any case, enjoy this week’s newsletter!

I’ve switched from Google to ChatGPT Search for daily Internet searches. It requires a subscription model, but I’ve been super impressed with the results. Try this one on, for example:

What are the most selective summer programs for high school students?

The output produced this list, which I felt was pretty strong:

  1. Research Science Institute (RSI)

  2. Telluride Association Summer Seminar (TASS)

  3. Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES)

  4. Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS)

  5. Research in Science & Engineering (RISE)

  6. The Summer Science Program (SSP)

  7. Clark Scholars Program

  8. Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC)

  9. Ross Mathematics Program

  10. New Jersey Scholars Program (NJSP)

If you have any great prompts or ideas, please share! Send me a note at [email protected].

While not technically an article, I stumbled across this wiki and thought it was worth sharing. I’m always keen to see what information is being shared among our different populations:

Enjoy the sprint to the finish line!

Happy counseling!
