Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling
Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #78!
Apologies for those of you who were looking for a newsletter last week. The chaos of the end of the semester, combined with this being the first year of my 24 in the business where I was not in school for ED releases, I managed to fall behind. That said, I will be taking a couple weeks off here moving forward into the holidays. I’m off to visit family in San Francisco and friends in Washington State after Christmas for a couple weeks. I hope you all enjoy time with loved ones.
In any case, enjoy this week’s newsletter!
Personally, I see the role of interviews in the application process diminishing as application volume continues to grow and grow. However, while they are still here, this is a really helpful prompt to share with your students… or use yourself if you’re doing mock interview practice with your students:
I am interviewing for [enter university name here] as an undergraduate applicant. Give me a comprehensive list of questions that my interviewer might ask me during this interview. Also provide brief answers and suggestions for further research for each question.
Give it a try for a random institution! If you have any great prompts or ideas, please share! Send me a note at [email protected].
For this week’s non-tech article, I wanted to direct you all to this year’s Open Doors reports. While it came out back in November, I managed not to see it until this week. Take a look. Use the information included.
As I mentioned, this will be my last newsletter for a couple weeks. See you in January! Enjoy some downtime!
Happy counseling!
Jeff
