Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #82!

Lots going on these days. We just finished mock exams with the seniors while the G9-11 were away from campus for our Classroom Without Walls (CWW) trips around Brazil. We are in the midst of the course selection process with grades 8-11 for next year while also having begun college counseling classes once per week with the 11s. Busy!

That said, there’s a lot going on in this week’s newsletter. I encourage you all to explore the links provided as well as the banner advertisements.

Anyway, enjoy this week’s newsletter!

Here’s another from Traci Flowers from Deerfield Park, Illinois:

I’d like a college list featuring unique and underrated institutions that excel in [academic field/major] but may not appear on mainstream rankings. These schools should prioritize [specific traits, e.g., community engagement, study abroad opportunities, co-op programs, or affordability]. Please include colleges with [small class sizes, vibrant campus culture, etc.] and avoid defaulting to large research universities or highly selective schools. The focus is on schools where students can thrive with personalized attention and access to distinctive academic opportunities.

It is another take on the “hidden gem” theme. Give it a try! If you have any great prompts or ideas, please share! Send me a note at [email protected].

Happy counseling!
