Your Weekly Guide to Leveraging Technology in College Counseling

Welcome to Tech-Neill-ogy #92!

It was a busy week! I made a 48-hour-ish trip to Abu Dhabi for an ADEK Counselors Forum (conference) at Khalifa University before leading an ADEK training at NYU Abu Dhabi… and then flew home! In any case, things are picking up here. Some interesting items in the sections below.

As always, if you encounter any tips, ideas, or questions, please send them my way!

I received a record number of email requests for the prompt I used last week to create the action figure version of myself, so here it is:

[Upload photo.] Draw an action figure toy of the person in this photo. The figure should be full figure and displayed in its original blister pack packaging. On top of the box is the name of the toy ["NAME" with "TITLE/ROLE"] across a single line of text. In the blister pack packaging, next to the figure show relevant toy accessories.

In any case, if you have any great prompts or ideas, please share! Send me a note at [email protected].

For this week’s non-tech article, I feel compelled to share this one from The New York Times on international students, a reality we are confronting on a daily basis here:

This particularly resonated with me: “Losing foreign students could also be bad for the broader economy, experts say. International students pumped nearly $44 billion into the American economy and generated 378,000 jobs last year alone, according to NAFSA: Association of International Educators, which promotes international education.”

Enjoy your week! Happy counseling!

Jeff
